Step 1: First of all, you need to log into www.instagram.com from an internet browser on your phone or computer. You won’t be able to deactivate your account from the mobile phone application.

Step 2: After logging in to your account, navigate to your Profile and then click on Edit Profile at the top of the page.

Step 3: Keep scrolling down to locate and select “Temporarily disable my account” at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: A drop-down menu will appear. From there, select an option for “Why are you disabling your account?”

Step 5: After that, you’ll be asked to re-enter your password in order to confirm it is really you who wants to deactivate the Instagram account.

Step 6: The option for temporarily disable account will become visible. Tap on “Temporarily Disable Account” to deactivate it.

Steps to Delete Instagram Account

Step 1: Open and login to your Instagram account on your phone.

Step 2: Click on the menu icon located in the top right corner. 

Step 3: Then click on “Settings” from the bottom right of the screen.

Step 3: From the settings page click on Help and then on “Help Center” to enter the help center in a browser window.

Step 4: Go to “Managing Your Account” and then click on “Delete Your Account”. 

Step 5: From the new page, click again on “How do I delete my account?”. Then scroll down to locate and follow the link to the “Delete Your Account” section. 

Step 6: Once you are at the Delete your account Page, select a reason for deleting your account and then enter your password when prompted to. 

Step 7: After entering your password, confirm to delete your account and your Instagram account will be deleted.
